What are the benefits of vitamin C in skin care?
In skin care, vitamin C is one of the most effective active ingredients of all, as numerous current studies confirm.
-
Vitamin C delays skin aging
Vitamin C is one of the most powerful antioxidants. As a radical scavenger, it neutralizes aggressive molecules that are missing an electron: so-called free radicals. Free radicals are harmful metabolic products that snatch an electron from other skin’s own molecules, thereby damaging them and causing our skin to age faster. Polluted city air, excessive UV radiation, stress, lack of sleep, alcohol or cigarette consumption mean oxidative stress for the skin, promoting the formation of free radicals. As a result, there is more wrinkling, but also irritation, skin blemishes, pimples, acne or redness. To prevent such cell and tissue damage, we need effective, skin-friendly care products with powerful antioxidants.Vitamin C not only protects our tissue-strengthening collagen structure from damaging free radicals. It also stimulates the body’s own production of new collagen. Vitamin C thus ensures elastic, wrinkle-free skin for as long as possible.

Vitamin C works against pimples
Vitamin C has also proven itself in the treatment of problematic skin and acne. Vitamin C reduces micro-inflammation in blackheads, pimples and acne, which are also caused by oxidative damage from free radicals. The complexion calms down. . -
Vitamin C brightens pigment spots
Vitamin C inhibits excessive melanin formation (hyperpigmentation, melasma) and brightens superficial dark pigment spots. With regular use, age spots fade, the complexion appears more even and smoother. Vitamin C also protects against further skin damage caused by sun rays.. -
Vitamin C gives a natural glow
With its natural, light peeling effect, vitamin C gently loosens dead skin cells. It provides dull or blotchy skin with a healthy glow: purer skin that radiates from within..
Which form of vitamin C is recommended for sensitive skin?
For external care, pure vitamin C (INCI: Ascorbic Acid) is not recommended for sensitive skin. It is unstable, susceptible to oxidation and requires a very acidic, skin-irritating pH value in a cream or serum. In contrast, stabilized derivatives such as ascorbyl glucoside, ethyl ascorbic acid, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate or sodium ascorbyl phosphate are much better tolerated by the skin. Our favored solvent-free extracts from sea buckthorn and schizandra berries, also have a specially skin-friendly, high vitamin C content. The ascorbyl glucoside in our Brightening Vitamin Serum, the Anti-Pollution Moisture Serum T and the Regenerate Glow Mask with its long-term depot function is particularly deep carried into the skin, where it is converted into vitamin C and stored. This stabilized natural cosmetic form of vitamin C is biotechnologically produced from glucose and vitamin C. In moderate doses for sensitive skin, it still has a very good long-term effectiveness.
