experiences on the Steingraeber E-272 in the Blaibach concert hall.
IAN Records | Immersive Sound Art, 2023
Works by Robert Schumann, Alexander Scriabin, Karol Rathaus and Ming-Hsiu Yen.
The acoustics of the recording location are famous and award-winning, especially for recordings with piano (e.g. Marlis Petersen and Stephan Matthias Lademann: OPUS Klassik for the cassette "DIMENSIONEN MENSCH & LIED“). In July 2023, an album was released on CD and Pure Audio Blu-ray that uses immersive audio formats (Dolby Atmos, Auro-3D) to transmit the natural sound of the hall in all spatial dimensions. This brings the immersion in the music even closer to the natural sound experience than it was previously possible through stereophony. The Canada based Taiwanese pianist Jui-Sheng Li carried out this innovative project together with Munich based sound engineers Ephraim Hahn and Kseniya Kawko supported by the Steingraeber chief technician Romina Tobar in December 2021.
In the series Immersive Sound Art, IAN Records is aiming to present outstanding independent Artists in the entirely new experience of immersive audio technologies. Additional spatial information make a more natural reproduction of instrument timbres possible and lead to an acoustic envelopment that involves the listener more emotionally into the musical performance.
Pianist Jui-Sheng Li takes us in his debut solo album on an intimate journey through some of his very own musical souvenirs. The diverse program combines works from a variety of different cultural backgrounds and seeks to present rarely performed pieces alongside well-known classics. Immerse yourself in the artist’s personal story in which he transcends barriers of culture, language and national identity through the transformative power of music. The New York Concert Review praised Jui-Sheng Li as a “musician of integrity and depth […] One looks forward to hearing more from this young artist.”
Jui-Sheng’s artistic individuality is shaped by his studies in Taiwan, Canada, and the United States as well as his appearances at music festivals across the globe. In recent years, Jui-Sheng has been creatively programming concerts combining traditional repertoire with lesser-performed yet classical compositions. Jui-Sheng has performed at such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall in New York and Salle des Colonnes–Château de Fontainebleau in France. His research projects, The Masked Music and The Musical Portrayals of Pierrot, have earned him Artist-in-Residence roles at internationally-renowned institutes such as the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity (Canada) and La Cité internationale des arts (France).
