The GTR UK Trade for Growth Conference will take place in London on 20 June 2023

Now in its 10th year and having firmly established itself as a flagship within the UK trade calendar, GTR UK 2023 will once again bring the trade and export community together to reflect on and consider the latest trends and priorities following a tumultuous past 12 months. Firmly established as the premier gathering for connecting with the key individuals and organisations at the forefront of both UK and global trade, and with an anticipated attendance of over 550 delegates, this is an event not to be missed.

On the one hand, the discussions will deal with the challenges of global value creation and the volatility of supply chains. On the other hand, the enormous opportunities arising from the disruptive impact of digitalisation and sustainability (ESG) requirements will be outlined first-hand by companies operating at the crossroads of international trade.

Our Managing Director Markus Wohlgeschaffen and Head of Markets & Sales takes part in a panel discussion at GTR UK 2023 in London. The topic of this panel is: Is supply chain finance still fit for purpose?

Financing costs, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), continue to be a major challenge. As a result, attention has shifted to the benefits of supply chain finance, which is offered to SMEs by a number of supply chain finance providers as an alternative means of securing liquidity.

But is the offer really sufficient? A common complaint has been that not enough providers – and new ones in particular – are looking beyond the low-hanging fruit of large multinational corporates and their top-tier suppliers, reducing the potential for SCF to inject real, lasting resilience into the world’s supply chains.

The panel will also discuss the importance of “deep-tier” supply chain finance as a financial tool to unlock working capital for the smallest suppliers. The central question to be discussed is how to close financing gaps and increase resilience within (global) supply chains.
