TÜV SÜD at automatica 2023 exhibition in Munich

TÜV SÜD will be represented at automatica, the leading exhibition for smart automation and robotics, to be held from 27 to 30 June in Munich. The testing, inspection and certification provider will showcase its extensive range of services in the area of industrial automation. This year’s focus is on functional safety, component certification, cyber security and AGVs/AMRs. The TÜV SÜD team is looking forward to meeting interested manufacturers, integrators, operators and service providers in Hall / Stand A4.107.

“Automation systems have become increasingly attractive targets for the attention of cyber criminals”, warns Christian Moschner, Head of Sales at TÜV SÜD Product Service. “In this area, efforts must be stepped up to ensure that processes are designed for both functional safety and efficiency.“ Cyber security plays a critical role in automation technology – and TÜV SÜD helps to improve product resilience by offering comprehensive IT security services. These include certification in accordance with IEC 62443 and ISO/SAE 21434, training courses and vulnerability analyses as well as risk analyses and threat modelling. The company supports customers throughout the entire process of secure product development and integration, and performs product testing such as penetration tests.

At automatica TÜV SÜD will further showcase a wide range of services designed to meet industry needs in terms of quality, safety and security as well as sustainability. They include the following: In the field of intelligent logistics, TÜV SÜD offers services related to automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs). Among them are certification for global market access, support from drawing board to finished product, and comprehensive services from risk assessment to functional safety and type testing under fault conditions. TÜV SÜD also offers single-unit approval, certification of small series and national and international certification on the basis of standards such as ISO 3691-4 or UL 3100.

Another central theme of TÜV SÜD’s presence at the trade fair is component certification, also in terms of supply chains. TÜV SÜD carries out international testing and certification of motors, drive systems, sensors, control units, power supply units and uninterrupted power supply (UPS) systems. The service provider supports manufacturers with single-unit approvals providing field evaluation services (FES), limited production certification (LPC) and SPE 1000. In addition, it assists with global market access (GMA).

TÜV SÜD also provides services in the area of functional safety, such as assessment during design and development, certification in accordance with IEC 61508 and other industry standards and knowledge services, including analyses and assessments. Training in IEC 61508 and EN ISO 13849-1 complete the service offering.

TÜV SÜD is also noteworthy for holding authorisation for the North American market, where only nationally recognised testing laboratories (NRTL) are permitted to perform the required tests and certifications. TÜV SÜD is the only testing laboratory outside North America to hold this accreditation, and can thus enable time-and cost-effective single unit approvals to be obtained for the North American market which would otherwise be associated with major organisational efforts. In particular, as an accredited inspection body TÜV SÜD offers LPC addressing small-volume production and testing in accordance with the standards of the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) for the Canadian market.
