Our collection of surfaces with depth effects receives the Red Dot Award

After the newest REHAU surface collection won the German Design Award 2023 in January, the RAUVISIO crystal Deep Collection – the collection with depth effects – has been awarded the next major design prize: the Red Dot Award 2023.

Good design always comes out on top. This has been proven in impressive fashion by the surface material with its subtly shimmering metallic look. With the Red Dot Award for 2023 in the “Product Design: Materials and Surfaces” category, the RAUVISIO crystal Deep Collection gained recognition from an esteemed jury this year for the second time. The Red Dot Label has become an internationally coveted quality seal for good design. The jury, made up of a new set of judges every year and following the motto “In search of good design”, examines every submission individually. Products nominated for the award must be aesthetically pleasing, functional, smart or innovative. The new REHAU surface collection boasts all of these properties.

Satisfying customers with our depth effects

“We are thrilled to have won another international design prize with the Red Dot Award”, says Hans Peter Mehnert, Director of Product Management Furniture Systems and Components. “But what we’re even more happy about is the amazing feedback we received from dealers and industry for our RAUVISIO crystal Deep Collection.” This is because our smart glass laminate for furniture surfaces can now be found in the product range of almost every German kitchen manufacturer. This is no great surprise, as the material creates a unique design experience with its special depth effect and subtle metallic shimmer. Depending on the light hitting the surface, the beauty of the deep gloss comes into its own, immersing the room in a unique atmosphere. Whether aiming for a strong contrast or discreet elegance in combination with other surfaces, the material blends harmoniously into the general scheme of the interior. The combination of glass and metal creates unexpected synergy effects and opens up seemingly endless design options for manufacturers, planners and furniture-makers.

Benefit of glass laminate: Enabling Exceptional Design

Glass laminate offers several benefits in processing and everyday use. Few materials boast such versatility. So, it’s no wonder that RAUVISIO crystal is also known as “carpenter’s glass”: it combines the elegant look of genuine glass with the outstanding properties of glass laminate. This means that the material can be processed using standard carpentry tools and allows almost boundless freedom in interior design.

REHAU’s material and design match concept also provides individual design options. Extending the Deep Collection of surfaces to include the RAUVOLET crystal-line storage solution and colour-coordinated RAUKANTEX edgebands allows items of furniture to be cast in a single piece. Processors and designers can therefore achieve the perfect design match from a single source, in keeping with the claim of Division Interior Solutions at REHAU: “Enabling Exceptional Design”. This has also impressed the juries of the world’s most prestigious design competitions.
