HEIDELBERG introduces new wallbox – Another building block in the e-mobility strategy for commercial customers

  • New wallbox of the connect series especially for commercial fleets, company cars, hotels and restaurants as well as apartment buildings
  • Innovative charging solution enables energy consumption to be recorded down to the kilowatt hour using an MID meter
  • Access control and differentiation of charging processes via RFID cards
  • Available from the second quarter of 2023 – Presentation at fleet trade fair in Düsseldorf from 29 to 30 March 2023

With the new Amperfied Wallbox connect.business, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG) is launching the first wall-mounted charging station primarily for commercial customers. A few weeks ago, its subsidiary Amperfied GmbH acquired a stake in Flotteladen GmbH to provide software solutions for charging entire vehicle fleets. The Wallbox connect.business will be available from the second quarter of 2023 and is aimed at fleet managers, company car drivers, hotels and restaurants as well as owners of apartment buildings. At the top of the range for commercial customers is the barrier-free, calibration-compliant Chargespot connect.public.

"The introduction of the connect.business wallbox is another building block in our strategy to offer commercial customers future-oriented and cost-effective e-mobility solutions under the Amperfied brand," explains Dr. Ludwin Monz, CEO of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG. Ulrich Grimm, technical managing director of Amperfied GmbH, adds: "When developing the connect.business, we paid close attention to the needs of our commercial customers. The result is a charger that is precisely tailored to the requirements of this target group, with its MID meter for exact kilowatt-hour metering and the option of connecting to a backend system."

Latest member of the Amperfied Wallbox connect series

The Wallbox connect.business is a technical advancement of the Wallbox connect.home and part of the Amperfied Wallbox connect series. The Wallbox connect.business differs from the Wallbox connect.home in that it has an integrated energy meter that records energy consumption down to the exact kilowatt hour and complies with the EU’s Measuring Instruments Directive (MID). This also makes the charging station suitable for semi-public areas where no public electricity billing takes place.

Innovative, cost-effective solution for fleets, company car drivers, hotels, restaurants and apartment buildings

The combination of a MID-compliant energy meter and RFID authentication makes it possible to distinguish which vehicle has consumed what amount of energy and to bill this manually. In addition, authentication via RFID card prevents charging by unauthorised third parties. This makes the Wallbox connect.business a cost-effective solution for the management and billing of charging activities, in particular for the following applications:

  • Commercial fleets where each vehicle has its own RFID card.
  • Company car drivers who need to differentiate between private and business charging at home – using a private and a business RFID card.
  • Hotels and restaurants, for example, where customers are issued with room-specific RFID cards.
  • Multi-apartment buildings where several users share charging points or each user has their own wallbox.

Standard interface for connection to backend systems, app and web interface

The Wallbox connect.business supports the standard communication protocol OCPP 1.6, making it easy to connect to backend systems from different providers for managing and billing charging processes. For additional cyber security, a software update will provide the optional OCPP 1.6 secure protocol starting in Q3 2023. Through a planned integration into the backend of Flotteladen GmbH, the Wallbox connect.business will become part of a comprehensive, modular charging management system that allows up to 100 wallboxes to be operated in a connected system. The integrated dynamic load management avoids load peaks and optimizes the charging time of the connected electric cars.

The backend software allows system configuration, evaluation, data and user management, and billing, and can be integrated into the customer’s existing IT infrastructure. Even without an additional backend, the myAMPERFIED app and web interface provide an easy way to view consumption data and check the charging history. Each charging process is recorded and stored, providing a detailed charging history. This can be viewed and downloaded at any time via the app or web interface.

Available from the second quarter

The Wallbox connect.business will be added to the Amperfied portfolio in the second quarter of 2023 and will be presented at the "Flotte! Der Branchentreff" ("Fleet! The industry gathering") trade fair in Düsseldorf from 29 to 30 March 2023 where it will be on display at the Amperfied GmbH booth.
