Innovation for Etrusco Campervan on Ford Transit basis

Motorhome manufacturer Etrusco is revolutionising the sleeping area of its Ford campervan models with the xFlip innovation, creating a total sleeping area of up to 2.29 metres. The newly developed, fold-out extension will be presented for the first time at the Caravan Salon Düsseldorf. With xFlip, the lying area in the bed is extended by 37 centimetres – a plus in comfort, especially for tall travellers. The rear extension will be fitted as standard from model year 2024 for CV 600 DF 4×4.

Comfort thanks to innovation

"As is so often the case, good ideas come from exchanging ideas with others – in our case it was the dialogue with our customers. We wanted to create even more comfort in the sleeping area of the new Ford campervan models – especially for tall travellers," says Christian Striebel, Managing Director of Etrusco GmbH. "We were not happy with the previous solutions on the market. Be it for comfort and handling reasons, but also for aesthetic reasons," adds Striebel. The sleeping extension was developed and tested in Germany. xFlip will be installed as standard from autumn 2023 at the Erwin Hymer Group’s factory in San Casciano/Italy.

The innovative folding mechanism extends the lying area by 37 centimetres in just a few steps. The extension can be easily unlocked inside the vehicle with a lever. Within seconds, xFlip unfolds to its full size and thus offers even more comfort at night on a total lying surface of 2.29 metres. All it takes is two easy steps and the sleeping extension is folded away again. 

Guaranteed sleeping comfort in the transverse bed

"We have carefully thought through every aspect, always with the goal of creating a consistently restful and comfortable sleeping environment in mind. The development of a new mattress for the bed extension was therefore a logical consequence," says Sandra Marinaro, Product Manager at Etrusco. "The 4×4-based campervan models are in high demand at the moment. With xFlip, travellers now benefit from even more comfort," Marinaro is certain.

xFlip to go into series production in 2024

The CV 600 DF 4×4 will be equipped with the innovation as standard from the 2024 model year. The first deliveries are expected as early as autumn 2023. The entry-level price of the 4×4-based campervan is 65.499 EUR.
