With efficiency for a faster energy transition

Speeding up the energy transition is an absolute necessity and, thus an incentive for the accelerated transformation of our energy systems. The industry must find efficient solutions along the entire value chain for the rapid expansion of renewable energy and the necessary energy infrastructure. At “The Smarter E Europe” energy trade fair and conference (14 to 16 June in Munich), Rittal and Eplan will demonstrate standardised solutions to accelerate the engineering and construction of systems to implement projects more economically.

Rittal and Eplan are making it clear how the energy transition can be speeded up at this year’s “The Smarter E Europe” trade fair. From energy generation and storage to expanding the grid and charging infrastructure: The two companies are presenting options to save time and costs for customers from all sectors of the energy industry and are thus accelerating the growth of the energy infrastructure. “Electrical engineering companies and grid operators have their hands full in meeting the high demand. Standardised, modular and industry-proven solutions save time and money and are thus extremely important,” Jan-Oliver Kammesheidt, Vertical Market Manager Energy at Eplan explains.

“Rittal and Eplan support customers along the entire value chain, from planning and designing and semi-automated plant construction to plant operation. This is the way we are actively shaping the transformation of energy supply together,” adds Raphael Görner, Executive Vice President of Rittal’s Energy and Power Solutions Business Unit.

Getting started faster with preconfigured solutions

At the trade fair, Rittal and Eplan will present pre-designed solutions for the energy sector, created through the intelligent combination of hardware and software. Specifically, a preconceived compact transformer station is being shown that can be planned from preconfigured subsystems and standardised products and then also semi-automatically manufactured in high quality. These basic solutions can be created for a wide variety of energy industry requirements using a modular system, thus providing the basis for a wide range of expansion and application options. The decisive advantages of preconfigured solutions are suitable project planning and complete documentation by Eplan Software. Customers can build directly on a project – including standardised industrial hardware – and must only customise when required. As a result, costs and time are saved, instead of new products having to be repeatedly developed.

As further application examples for these basic solutions, Rittal and Eplan will be showing at the exhibition booth, among other things, how photovoltaic systems can be planned more easily thanks to pre-designed configurations for AC distributors, energy storage systems can be more easily configured with standardised expansion modules, and how eMobility charging parks can be easily scaled with a powerful backend infrastructure.

Rapid and secure set-up of charging infrastructure

With end-to-end design tools from Eplan and using Rittal’s standardised solutions, the two companies are also supporting the expansion of the grid and charging infrastructure, helping implement the mobility revolution. Solutions for AC and DC charging, as well as megawatt charging, can be implemented efficiently.

New energy monitoring for manufacturing processes

Rittal and Eplan also present an integrated system solution comprising hardware and management software, permitting comprehensive energy monitoring in production processes. Transparent manufacturing data and the corresponding energy flows enable efficient energy management, which will play an increasingly important role in companies’ future economic operations.

The vital question of how systems’ energy consumption can be further reduced will also be addressed.  With its Blue e+ cooling unit series, which offers vast energy consumption savings of up to 75%, Rittal shows how hybrid technology makes energy efficiency possible.

About Rittal

Rittal, headquartered in Herborn, Germany, is a leading global provider of solutions for industrial enclosures, power distribution, climate control and IT infrastructure, as well as software and services.
