BTV Multimedia joins ETC Group

BTV Multimedia Group (“BTV”), a fast-growing group in the broadband industry, previously owned by DBAG ECF III (a fund advised by Deutsche Beteiligungs AG), has announced that BTV Multimedia will be acquired by ETC Group (“ETC”), a leading global provider to the telecom network and technology infrastructure industry, headquartered in Eaubonne, France. In October 2022, international private equity firm Cinven acquired a majority stake in ETC Group from Carlyle, with ETC Group CEO Cédric Varasteh and Carlyle Europe Technology Partners (“CETP”) reinvesting for significant minority stakes alongside Cinven.

BTV Multimedia combines the forces of well-known international manufacturers, distributors and service companies in the broadband industry, supporting network operators, installers, the housing industry and wholesalers throughout Europe in fiber optic and HFC network rollout. BTV Multimedia GmbH and its nine subsidiaries, ANEDiS GmbH, antennen electronic braun GmbH, braun teleCom GmbH, DKT A/S, FIONIS GmbH, Heinrich GmbH, Holm GmbH, POTT Kabelservice GmbH and STW Spleisstechnik West GmbH, including further subsidiaries of the individual companies, will join ETC Group and continue to serve their customers in the same high quality that they have come to expect. ETC is a provider of passive and active telecommunications equipment and tooling with leading technical and logistics solutions with presence across 14 countries including the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Portugal, which includes acquired companies Comtec, Klonex-VCS, and TIBA in Europe.

Joining ETC gives BTV Multimedia the opportunity to expand its already extensive portfolio of sophisticated products and services by including solutions from the new sister companies, and to join forces to implement broadband expansion projects of all sizes throughout Europe.

Joe Doering, CEO of BTV Multimedia Group, said: “We are pleased to become part of ETC. This connection enables us not only to implement pioneering network expansion projects with sustainable solutions, but also to actively shape the requirements of the broadband market. With the support of ETC, we will be able to maintain our ambitious growth course.”

Cédric Varasteh, Founder and Chairman of ETC Group, said: “BTV has a compelling set of attributes which make it the perfect fit for ETC, including an impressive team with outstanding technical capabilities and expertise across both active and passive equipment, a significant platform across DACH as well as a presence in Denmark, a strong and extensive set of blue-chip customer relationships, and a suite of high quality products with cross-selling potential among ETC’s existing portfolio and customer base. We look forward to working with Joe and the entire team at BTV as we continue to execute on our ambitious growth plans.”

The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the coming months.
