TÜV SÜD recognised as Notified Body (NoBo) for infrastructure

The TÜV SÜD legal entity in Austria, TÜV SÜD LGÖ, has been recognised by the Austrian Ministry of Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology as Notified Body (NoBo) for infrastructure. This means the TÜV SÜD rail experts are now authorised to assess rail infrastructure for its conformity with the relevant EU regulations and directives. The designation was published under number NB 2953 in the European Union’s database of notified bodies, NANDO.

The rail infrastructure covers all stationary rail installations and systems on upgraded and new lines. This includes tracks and earthworks, but also railway bridges, tunnels, retaining walls and noise barriers as well as passenger stations in terms of users with reduced mobility. The Notified Body (NoBo) for infrastructure will provide EC conformity assessment and certification of the rail infrastructure in accordance with the Europe-wide Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI). These TSI apply throughout the European Union. They are continuously refined and aligned to the latest technology.

TÜV SÜD Rail GmbH – a subsidiary of TÜV SÜD LGÖ – was designated by the German Federal Railway Authority (EBA) as a NoBo for rolling stock. “The designations of our companies as NoBo for infrastructure and NoBo for rolling stock are also a recognition of our broad expertise in the rail sector and of the quality and impartiality of our work“, says Dr Gregor Supp, Head of Infrastructure in the Business Unit Rail of TÜV SÜD. “By contributing their in-depth understanding and comprehensive experience, our experts help to maintain the high level of safety in European rail transport.”
