In order to support architects and engineers already during the planning phase, the Trade Assosiation of Brick and Tile Industry (Fachverband der Ziegelindustrie Nord e.V.) has made an interactive planning aid for the thermal insulation verification of cavity walls available on the association’s website since this year. The rule details developed for this purpose are based on the new masonry standard DIN EN 1996-2/NA (EC6).
No more unfavourable flat-rate surcharges according to EnEV
The finite element method for calculating thermal bridges and length-related heat transfer coefficients enables the planner to provide individual verification in accordance with the German Energy Saving Ordinance (Energieeinsparverordnung EnEV) using the interactive U-value calculation tool. "This often has a more positive effect on the energy balance calculation than when flat-rate allowances are taken into account," explains Dipl.-Ing. Jürgen Matzelle, technical managing director at MODERSOHN, one of the central advantages of the new planning aid.
User-friendly planning aid for the thermal insulation certificate
As a graduate civil engineer, Jürgen Matzelle, who was also responsible for the masonry façade division at MODERSOHN as project and department manager for a long time, knows the technical and official hurdles one encounters during the façade planning phase. He sees all the more practical benefits for the user in the planning aid tool of the Ziegelverband Nord e.V.
"As a specialist for façade planning, you are usually under deadline pressure. Technical support is then a welcome instrument. The entry page of the Trade Association on the topic thermal insulation is clearly structured and user-friendly. The various connection details can be entered quickly and easily."
MODERSOHN intends to offer its own planning aid for planning experts in analogy to the planning aid of the Ziegelverband Nord e.V. With this, point-related thermal bridges can be determined for various types of construction and shapes in connection with the company’s own brand products, for example the MOSO® single brackets.
