10GbE LAN Module in M.2 Form Factor from Innodisk

The applications in the course of Industry 4.0 and in the fields of gaming, image processing and networks are constantly increasing and becoming more diverse. The resulting markets are growing at the same rate. For example, the gaming market including hardware grew from 2.3 billion euros in revenue in 2012 to 8.5 billion euros in 2020 (Source: Statistica 2021). The amount of data in the network is increasing at the same rate. The conventional 1GbE LAN can no longer meet the required transmission rates. The need for high-speed LAN solutions is growing. At the same time, interference is becoming more frequent because the size of the PCIe form factor does not fit into the small design of today’s IPC platforms. Based on this, Innodisk developed and currently introduces its new EGPL-T101 M.2 2280 10GbE LAN module. It is a 10GbE LAN module in M.2 form factor that integrates very well with existing network infrastructures and features easy backward compatibility and low power consumption.

Innodisk’s EGPL-T101 is an M.2 2280-to-single 10GbE Base-T Ethernet module. It is currently the smallest 10GbE expansion solution available. Supporting PCI Express Gen 3×2, the EGPL-T101 module can provide sufficient bandwidth for a 10GbE LAN port suitable for the high-speed networking needs of servers and industrial applications.

As a high-speed LAN solution, the EGPL-T101 can be flexibly integrated. Its standard RJ45 LAN port on a small daughterboard provides a simple solution for upgrading to a 10GbE network using existing Cat6/6A copper cables. The EGPL-T101 features excellent compatibility with its six supported network standards 10/5/2.5/1Gbps and 100/10Mbps, providing excellent backward compatibility with existing network infrastructure. The EGPL-T101 LAN module offers high-performance computing that is about ten times faster than the current widely used Gigabit Ethernet with low power consumption. EGPL-T101 is suitable for various high-speed scenarios such as machine vision in industrial applications, high throughput network data transmission, high-resolution image transmission in surveillance systems, and low-latency in gaming.
