Ballet premiere »Rituale« delayed. No revival for »Hänsel und Gretel«
The choreographic premiere of »Rituale«, originally planned by the Leipzig Ballet and the Gewandhausorchester for 26 November 2021, will be delayed. Every one of the Oper Leipzig’s divisions will be able to continue rehearsals at the Opera House and the Musikalische Komödie – additionally safeguarded by the new operational 3G rule and additional PCR testing regulations for staging rehearsals. As a result, preparations for the planned Christmas program and the Oper Leipzig’s New Year’s Eve concert can continue. Unfortunately, rehearsals that include the Children’s Chorus are not allowed under the new Saxon Emergency Corona Ordinance. As a result, a revival of Humperdinck’s opera »Hänsel und Gretel« will no longer be possible this season.
The Oper Leipzig’s Visitor Services office will continue to be available by phone Monday – Saturday from 10am – 7pm. The Opera House Box Office will maintain reduced hours through 12 December 2021, opening Monday – Friday from 10am – 2pm.
