• E.ON wins high-profile experts for corporate foundation
• Strong commitment to increased community involvement for successful transformation to a sustainable society
With the appointment of the Advisory Board, E.ON underscores the strengthening and focus of the Corporate Foundation on supporting projects that accompany and promote the transformation of business and society towards greater sustainability and climate protection. In the future, a committee of renowned experts from the fields of science, journalism and business will accompany the work of the foundation and decide on new projects and partnerships.
E.ON has been able to win the following experts for the collaboration:
Thomas Birr (Head of Strategy & Innovation, E.ON SE), Dr. Leonhard Birnbaum (Chairman of the Advisory Board and Chairman of the Board of Management of E.ON SE), Joschka Fischer (former Foreign Minister), Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Ursula Gather (Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation), Petra Gerster (journalist), Prof. Dr. Veronika Grimm (Chair of Economics at Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg and member of the German Council of Economic Experts), Tobias Harburg (Head of the Board Office, E.ON SE), Dr. Susanne Rompel (Vice President Political Affairs, E.ON SE).
“With such a competent and experienced advisory board, the E.ON Foundation will set clear accents in its work in the future,” said Chairman Leonhard Birnbaum. “The aim of the E.ON Foundation is to actively accompany the transformation of the economy and society towards greater sustainability and climate protection by supporting scientific projects.” In shaping the energy system of the future, the foundation focuses on people and their everyday lives to make the transformation toward a climate-neutral, decentralized, and digital energy world a win-win for everyone.
“A sustainable transformation needs a solid empirical foundation and broad scientific reflection. The E.ON Foundation does this in an exemplary way,” affirms Ursula Gather, the new Vice Chair of the Advisory Board. Broad-based empirical studies such as the “Socio-Ecological Panel” of the RWI – Leibniz Institute for Economic Research, contribute to this just as much as focused topic-specific studies and dialog-oriented communicative formats.
“Scientific findings are one thing – but foundation work only becomes lively and effective in concrete action,” says Managing Director Stephan Muschick. To this end, the E.ON Foundation relies on close cooperation with numerous partners from the non-profit sector and on activities on the ground to put concrete solutions for sustainable transformation into practice.
