  • Free choice: Astra as a highly efficient plug-in hybrid and with combustion engines
  • Attractive offer: Price of entry-level five-door model same as that of predecessor
  • Astra Hybrid: Electrification from €28,622.50 including Environmental Bonus
  • Clever: With digital Pure Panel and Intelli-Lux LED® Pixel light

The new Opel Astra celebrated its world premiere in Rüsselsheim just a few weeks ago, and the latest generation of the compact class bestseller is already available to order. With its bold and pure design as well as innovative top technologies, the all-new Astra is opening a new era. However, the price of the entry-level five-door model – €22,465 (all prices RRP incl. VAT in Germany) – is the same as that of its predecessor. Numerous state-of-the-art assistance systems such as front collision warning with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, speed sign recognition or drowsiness detection are standard equipment in every version. Lively performance at the entry level is provided by the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo, direct injection petrol engine (81 kW/110 hp) with six-speed manual gearbox (combined fuel consumption according to WLTP1: 5.5-5.4 l/100 km, 126-123 g/km CO2).

Those who prefer to drive electrically in the new Astra will also find the right offer right from the market launch. For the first time, the Astra is now also available in an electric version. Customers will be able to drive the Astra Hybrid from an attractive €35,800. After deducting the Environmental Bonus, the purchase price of the new Astra Hybrid is only €28,622.50. A lot of power with maximum efficiency is guaranteed: The hybrid provides a system output of 133 kW/180 hp and a powerful 360 Newton metres of maximum torque (WLTPcombined fuel consumption: 1.1-1.0 l/100 km, COemissions 26-22 g/km). In pure electric mode, the new Astra Hybrid can cover up to 60 km (WLTP2) emissions-free. The top of the range will then be the top-of-the-line hybrid with an impressive 165 kW/225 hp system output (WLTPcombined fuel consumption: 1.4-1.1 l/100 km, COemissions 31-24 g/km; preliminary values). From the beginning of 2023, the battery-electric Opel Astra-e will complete the drive portfolio.

“The bold and pure design of the new Opel Astra will thrill many customers. In addition, our new compact model also offers much more: particularly high economy combined with innovative technologies and a wide range of powertrains from petrol and diesel to plug-in hybrid. Right from the start of ordering, our customers can choose the right solution for them – depending on their preferences and driving profile. Electric, efficient and exciting – that is the new Astra”, says Opel CEO Uwe Hochgeschurtz.

Attention to detail: New Astra combines bold design with top technologies

The new Opel Astra is a design statement for the brand. Dynamic as never before, with sheer, taut surfaces, detoxed of superfluous elements and with the new brand face – the Opel Vizor. The new model has been developed with love and dedication down to the smallest detail.

The new Astra also makes a clear statement with the technologies and assistance systems it brings to the compact class. Innovations that customers are otherwise only familiar with from vehicles in higher segments. One highlight of the extensive portfolio is the latest version of the adaptive, glare-free Intelli-Lux LED® Pixel light. The system comes directly from the Opel flagship Insignia and, with 168 LED elements, is a leader in the compact and midsize class.

A leap in time has taken place in the interior of the new generation Astra. With the fully digital Pure Panel, analogue instruments are consigned to history. Instead, the new human-machine-interface (HMI) with fresh, modern graphics offers customers a pure, more intuitive experience. Operation is via an extra-wide touchscreen, just like a smartphone. In addition, important settings such as climate control can still be selected directly via just a few switches. Never before has an Opel been so intuitive and easy to operate as the new Astra.

The outstanding seating comfort in the new compact class model is also typical of Opel. The front seats, developed in-house, are AGR-certified (Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V.) with exemplary ergonomics, especially on long journeys. The driver is supported by optional state-of-the-art assistance systems ranging from the head-up display – to the 360-degree view called Intelli-Vision.

The sleek Opel Astra five-door is available to order now and will begin rolling out to the first customers in early 2022. The sporty and elegant Opel Astra Sports Tourer estate will follow shortly.

[1] The fuel consumption and CO2 emissions figures mentioned comply with the WLTP homologation (regulation EU 2017/948). From 1 September 2018, new vehicles are type-approved using the World Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP), which is a new, more realistic test procedure for measuring fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The WLTP fully replaces the New European Drive Cycle (NEDC), which was the test procedure used previously. Due to more realistic test conditions, the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions measured under the WLTP are in many cases higher compared to those measured under the NEDC. The fuel consumption and CO2 emissions figures may vary depending on specific equipment, options and format of tires.
