New building in Hanover specially geared towards the needs of Rhenus Home Delivery

The ground-breaking ceremony took place in August this year and the work to construct the foundations for the logistics facility started in September. It will have 5,500 square metres of warehouse and handling space and a two-storey office section. Furniture, white and brown goods as well as fitness devices for local furniture stores and online mailing companies, which dispatch goods to northern Germany, will be temporarily stored and handled there at a later date.

“The warehouse and our offices have been located at different sites in Hanover up to now and they’ll be united under one roof in future. The shorter and improved distances needing to be covered with the incoming and outgoing goods areas opposite each other are another positive feature. Particularly the large number of loading gates, compared to standard properties, is a significant benefit, given the large quantities of goods that pass through our sites,” says Ronny Sassen, Managing Director of Rhenus Home Delivery, explaining the investment. The number of loading gates will rise from the current figure of six to 20.

The employees will benefit from a modern area for breaks and improved ergonomic facilities like height-adjustable desks. The business site will also take into consideration sustainable aspects and is certified according to DGNB Gold. The outside area will be equipped with six electricity charging points for cars and four for bikes. The necessary infrastructure, which could be needed to construct electricity charging point for trucks and a larger solar panel unit on the roof in future, will also be put in place. Warm water supplies will be guaranteed via a solar panel unit.

The logistics centre will be equipped with a burglar alarm, video equipment and a security checkpoint as regards its security features.
